THEIR SONG

“How many people SOLDIERS go kill? (2e)

Oh dem go kill us tire oh (3ce)

How many people SOLDIERS go kill?

In their Song those boys and girls were innocently protesting, singing, dancing and visibly

having fun, but seriously demanding that the Police should stop killing them.#EndSARS

In their Song they had their hands in the air waving their country’s national Flag, a symbol of

their patriotism and respect for their fatherland - a fatherland that has disappointed and divided

their parents into tribal bigots and drove many others into exile looking for greener pastures in

very abnormal places like the Saharan and Arabian deserts.

In their Song those boys and girls never ever thought that their Nigerian Soldiers would actually

come to their protesting ground at Lekki Toll Gate to gun them down.

In their Song those boys and girls thought that their Nigerian Soldiers were only trained to stop

external aggression and to hunt down Boko Haram Terrorists and Bandits.

In their Song those boys and girls believed their Governor was planning to accede to their

demands, but little did they know that he was appealing for military assistance to deal with them.

In their Song those boys and girls were our children, our celebrities, our artists, our musicians,

our brothers and sisters, our future generations, our heroes and heroines, our retirement

Benefits..

In their Song many of those boys and girls are actually dead, many wounded, many paralyzed

for life and many with emotional scars that they will live with for the rest of their lives. Many will

be walking wounded both physically, emotionally and spiritually because of the trauma of their

personal experiences at the Lekki Toll Gate and for a long time some will be having Nightmares

that will make living a difficult adventure.

In their Song, those boys and girls expected their President to be their father and understand

that they were only asking for the Police to stop killing them. But their father, the President

remained silent for 12 days and then sent Soldiers to kill his own children. Yet he never spoke to

them before they died and when he spoke, he spoke “Greek” and never acknowledged that he

has actually killed his own children intentionally. The World looks in horror. Who does that?

Buhari..

In their Song those boys and girls now know that they really have nobody to stop the Police or

Soldiers from killing them. They know that they will die, but their deaths will never be in vain.

In their Song those boys and girls know that a New Nigeria has to emerge to really

#EndSARS.
